Bill Moss AM
Chairman, Moss Capital

Bill Moss AM is an Australian businessman and philanthropist with expertise in real estate, banking, funds and asset management.

Bill spent 23 years as a senior executive and Executive Director with Macquarie Group, the pre-eminent Australian investment bank, where he founded, grew and led Macquarie Real Estate Group to a point where it managed over $23 billion worth of investments around the world.

Of late, Bill has participated in the Australian Government's Australia 2020 summit, and also joined the Government's Disability Investment Group.

Bill currently co-chairs the Territory 2030 Steering Committee, is a member of the ASIC External Advisory Panel, and is Chairman of Moss Capital and Chairman and Founder of The FSHD Global Research Foundation.

Bill Moss AM regularly features in the Australian media, providing comment on the finance and banking sectors, the global economy, and the ongoing need for Australia to do more to advance the interests of the country's disabled and disadvantaged.

In 2006, Bill was awarded one of Australia's highest honours, the Order of Australia (AM), for services to the banking, charity, and finance sectors.

Glenn Willis
Chief Executive, Moss Capital

Glenn Willis has over 25 years experience in investment banking, with expertise in fixed income and equities sales and trading, debt origination, structured finance and funds management.

Glenn has advised to a wide range of corporate, institutional and government bodies, including federal, state and local governments, institutional investors and international investment banks.

From 1984 to 1988 Glenn worked for Challenge Bank, where he progressed to Head of Securities Trading. In this role he was responsible for managing the Bank’s prime assets ratio and liquidity portfolios, as well as its securities trading and distribution activities.

Following this role with Challenge Bank, Glenn accepted a position with Fay, Richwhite Australia to lead the Fixed Interest and Debt Capital Markets divisions.

In 1995 Glenn co-founded Grange Securities, which quickly became Australia’s preeminent independent fixed income house.

After 12 years of strong growth, Grange Securities was acquired by Lehman Brothers in 2007.

Following the acquisition, Glenn was appointed Country Head and Managing Director of Lehman Brothers Australia, overseeing the integration of the two businesses and the operation of Lehman Brothers’ investment banking business in Australia.

In 2008 Glenn was appointed Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers Australia.

Glenn is a supporter of the Standing Tall youth mentoring program and is a Director of the Stewart House Advisory Board.

Bjorn Zikarsky
Executive Director, Moss Capital

Bjorn Zikarsky has over 10 years predominantly international experience in the financial services industry, including advisory, capital market transactions and private equity management.

Following an esteemed athletic career as a two-time Olympic Swimmer and Bronze medallist at the 1996 Olympic Games for his native Germany, Bjorn extended his professional career from operational management (Club Sportswear 1993-1996) into finance, joining Safeguard International Fund in Wayne, Pennsylvania during his graduate studies. At Safeguard, an international private equity fund, he was responsible for transaction management and due diligence in companies in metals and mining, advanced materials, chemicals, recycling and environmental service industries.

After graduation Bjorn joined US investment bank Robertson Stephens, first in San Francisco and later in London and Munich. Bjorn helped extend the US and UK platform in building and managing the German office while working on European and US transactions across the entire investment spectrum. From there Bjorn joined UK private equity leader 3i Group as part of their European Buy-Out team, based in Munich, Germany, leading principal acquisitions and investments within the German speaking region.

Having moved his family to Australia, Bjorn joined Grange Securities in 2006 as a Director in Corporate Finance and Funds Origination. In this role Bjorn restructured the Corporate Finance team and initiated further funds origination just prior to Lehman Brothers’ acquisition of Grange Securities in 2007. Bjorn transitioned into the role of Senior Vice President of Lehman Brothers Australia within the Investment Banking Division, responsible for the Natural Resources / Metals and Mining Franchise. Following the purchase of the Lehman Asian operations in late 2008 by Nomura, Bjorn left Nomura in May 2009 amidst a restructuring of the entire global Nomura operations.

Bjorn has a Masters of Business Administration from The Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Business from the University of Southern California.

Martin Rushe 
Executive Director, Moss Capital

Martin Rushe has an extensive career of project financing and venture capital in the technology and energy sectors. He has funded and operated businesses in the UK, France, Germany and Australia.

In technology he has funded and operated fibre carriers, data centres, ISPs, content providers and social media businesses. In the energy sector he is expert in renewables, with extensive experience of utility scale wind, solar and other technologies.

Martin is ex-Goldman Sachs (London) and has been a scientist at the European Space Agency.

Ian Williams
Director, Moss Capital

Ian has over 24 years investment banking experience focused in real estate, finance and investment.

Ian has expertise in raising both debt and equity for businesses and for projects, has a strong understanding of board audit and compliance procedures, ASX listing rules and prudential control of business operations.

Prior to joining Moss Capital Ian was Director of Business Operations for Urban Pacific, with responsibility for 29 development projects across Australia, South Africa and the USA. Urban Pacific had over 21,000 lots under development with gross project end values in excess of $10 billion.

At Macquarie Bank Ian was responsible for the formation of Macquarie’s property syndicates business, raising over $750 million for syndications and funds.

As Operations Manager for Macquarie Bank’s A-REITS’s, funds under management grew from $250 million to $3.5 billion and the listed entities for which Ian had operations responsibilities grew from three to six.

Ian holds a Masters of Business Administration and is currently a Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of NSW.

KK Lim
Director, Asia, Moss Capital

KK Lim has almost 30 years international experience in senior-level management roles in the banking industry across Asia, Europe and Australia.

During this time KK held positions with Standard Chartered Bank, Hastings-Deering Group, ABN-AMRO and National Westminster Bank, and was Managing Director - Asia of Macquarie Bank's Banking and Property Group for 6 years.

In 1993, KK pioneered Macquarie Bank's entry into China, successfully leading the team that set up the first foreign managed fund to directly invest into Chinese residential real estate.

KK has significant experience in commercial, private and investment banking, and has also held a variety of board level appointments for Sino-foreign joint ventures. He is also the Founder and Director of Profiles of HongKong Ltd, a leading regional HR assessment and consultancy company based in Hong Kong.

His wide involvement in community and social organisations includes work with Sydney's homeless, clean water programs for third-world countries, and volunteer teaching at schools in Sydney and Hong Kong. KK is also a business coach and mentor.

KK is actively involved in a number of professional and community organisations including:

Michael Baliva
Director, Moss Capital

Michael brings a wealth of Australian and international real estate and fund experience to Moss Capital, having spent the last 5 years in the US and European real estate markets.

In addition to his 8 years as a Chartered Accountant servicing the property and financial services industry, Michael has 13 years real estate investment experience with Australian listed property fund and asset managers specialising in retail property.

Michael has an established track record in Operations Director, Fund Manager, and Chief Investment Officer roles with substantial achievements in building real estate investment and asset management platforms.

Most recently, Michael headed up Centro Properties’ national US investment/asset management capability, comprising 350 people managing 235 properties valued at US$6.4 billion.

Michael is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Rodney Pryor
Director, Moss Capital

Rodney Pryor has over 13 years experience in the financial services industry, specialising in debt financing and restructure, credit and financial analysis, and risk assessment.

After four years working as an accountant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Rodney joined Grange Securities in 2000 as a financial analyst before being promoted to Director, Credit Research. In this role Rodney provided quantitative and qualitative analysis of corporates issuing fixed income & hybrid securities, was a member of the investment committee for primary market hybrid, fixed income and property security transactions, and worked with the Investment Banking division in debt and equity issuance.

Following Lehman Brothers’ acquisition of Grange Securities in 2007, Rodney worked as Lehman Australia’s lead credit analyst on debt financing proposals for leveraged buy-out transactions.

Rodney took up the position of Senior Vice President, Lehman Brothers Asia Special Situations Group in mid 2007. In this role he was responsible for leading the structuring and analysis of all potential investments, including market, industry and company specific risk assessment for the Australia region.

Rodney has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 2005.

Stephen Moss
Director, Moss Capital

Stephen completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics at Sydney University, majoring in Economics, Agricultural Economics and Corporate Finance.

Stephen has worked with a number of large listed and private companies in Australia, in the investment banking and insolvency sectors.

More recently, Stephen was based in Hong Kong working within the fields of fuel technology research and investments, and carbon markets.  During this time Stephen was a member of the Government of HKSAR Clean the Air Committee. 

Stephen has a strong connection with the Australian not-for-profit sector. He was Director and Chief Financial Officer of Gunya Tourism, a company providing investment in indigenous communities in an effort to stimulate employment.  Stephen is currently involved with the FSHD Global Research Foundation as an active member and is a volunteer with The Salvation Army.

Tony Belmonte
Director, Moss Capital

Tony Belmonte is a chartered accountant and investment banking specialist within the energy, renewable energy, infrastructure, resources, technology and financial services sectors.  Tony is presently a Director of Investment Banking for Moss Capital in Australia and prior to this was a co-founder and managing partner of a private equity fund based in London focused on direct alternative and renewable energy investments.

Mr. Belmonte has spent his 25 year career creating, managing and executing transactions across the globe which have encompassed all nature of financial construct and delivery including: IPO’s, MBO’s, LBO’s, reverse listings, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital management, private equity management and debt and equity restructurings.

Mr Belmonte has a Fortune 50 background having held senior and executive positions for Price Waterhouse, Mobil Oil Corp., Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Lehman Brothers and Matrix Securities Ltd.

 

Yan Orlievsky
Director, Moss Capital

Yan Orlievsky has over 17 years experience in the property sector, including real estate amalgamation and acquisitions, syndication, capital raising and urban planning.

During his career Yan has been involved in a large number of development projects throughout Sydney, including the redevelopment of the St. Margaret’s Hospital, ‘The Bondi’ and ‘The Phoenix’.

 

Yan has an extensive network both locally and internationally including banks, private equity investors, high net worth individuals, fund managers and developers.

 

Most recently, Yan has been sourcing investment opportunities in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Central and Eastern Europe for several Australian institutional and private investors, as well as actively promoting specific Australian investment opportunities in these international markets.

 

Yan has a Diploma in Land Economics and is fluent in Russian.

Lisa Smith
Office Manager and Executive Assistant

Lisa has over 10 years of administrative experience across government and private sectors.

Whilst completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) at the University of Wollongong, Lisa began her administrative career in local government before spending over four years as the personal assistant to the Commander Australian Navy Aviation Group.

In 2005, Lisa took up a position at Macquarie Bank as an executive assistant to a Group Head.

Lisa went on to become administration manager for Macquarie’s Real Estate Capital team, responsible for the coordination of administration across the division. In this role she was involved in a wide range of critical business elements, including risk and compliance, finance, human resources, training, and systems administration.

Lisa brings strong administrative and coordination skills and experience to Moss Capital, and a sound understanding of key business and finance fundamentals.
